A Fashion Design & Identity Development Program for youth
Fashion is one of the most visual representations of expression. The clothes we wear can be a meaningful statement of who we are and empower us to be more confident and comfortable in our own skin.
Threads is a fashion design and youth identity development program taught by Project Runway Allstar’s Sam Donovan and Love Your Labels’ education team. Students will use fashion design as a lens to discuss personal expression, gender & sexuality, and help youth on their journey of self discovery. The program will lead to a final fashion show event where youth will exhibit the designs they’ve constructed over the course of the program.
With Threads, Love Your Labels is creating a safe and educational space where youth can discuss expression; breaking down binary, bias, and stigma; and their own experiences as they navigate their own personal journeys.
This program is for youth ages 13-18 years old in the Greater Worcester & Central Mass Region. The first program will kickoff on September 25 and run for 8 weeks on Wednesdays from 6-8:30pm at Creative Hub Worcester’s Youth Arts Space at 653 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
Threads is made possible by the support of the Worcester Arts Council, WebsterFive Foundation, Fidelity Bank, Bay State Savings Bank and Digital Federal Credit Union—commonly known as DCU along with contributions from our community of supporters — additional sponsors to be announced.
